Self-made City was a project commissioned by the Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust.
To support carers feeling isolation and lonely by arranging creative workshops and activities, for carers to meet new people and learn new skills during National Carer's Week.
We want you to re-imagine parks, public squares and blue spaces in the city as outdoor wellbeing hubs, by thinking about how they bring us together to share experiences, be active and connect with each other.
Attendees were introduced to the 5-ways to wellbeing programme and a range of different activities in their local area which they could participate in.
They took part in an ideation exercise to brainstorm new outdoor activities that they would like to see happening in their neighbourhood, like designing a pop-up theatre in the park and creating a community garden from an old shipping container.
The final activity was prototyping their ideas. One participant crafted an outdoor theatre using foam boards and pin people, and another person converted an old pallet into a vegetable planter for his garden.
