cityzen was created to re-imagine how we connect and socialise with others, how we stay physically and mentally strong, and how we use technology to monitor our health and wellbeing.
2020 has been a year full of highs and lows; Zoom for work, Facetime to socialise and virtual gigs for entertainment. We've isolated from friends and family, avoided hugs and handshakes, and happily forgotten about those painful morning commutes.
Rather than dwelling in an uncertain present, cityzenclub founder Oswin has decided that now is the time to think about life after lockdown.
We're a social enterprise on a big mission; supporting vulnerable groups in Greater Manchester to achieve better wellbeing. We organise creative workshops and community events.
The Covid-19 pandemic is having a huge effect on the mental health and wellbeing of everyone, especially the health and and care workers of Greater Manchester. The crisis will eventually start to ease, and many of us will breathe a sigh of relief. However, for carers and healthcare workers the crisis will be far from over - their wellbeing will be low, and the risk of post traumatic stress, depression and anxiety will be high. We must support them and we need your help.
cityzenclub was started to re-imagine how we connect and socialise with others, how we stay physically and mentally strong, and how we use technology to monitor our health and wellbeing, in life after lockdown.
In March 2020, we applied for a social enterprise start-up programme, run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs. The proposal was to organise a wellbeing festival for carers and healthcare workers. We can announce today that our application was successful - cityzen has joined the 2020 SSE startup cohort. The programme starts in September and offers 12-months of social enterprise business support, advice, and training.
8-13 June 2021 is National Carers Week. We're celebrating the great carers and healthcare workers of our City by arranging a waterside wellbeing festival. The festival will be co-designed with a group of young carers as part of a creative workshop challenge taking place in Spring 2021.
